Press Kit Pointers

You probably already produce a general press kit to provide background information on your organization. But you might also consider creating individual press kits to publicize specific products, services, programs or events. Follow these tips for creating more specific press kits:

  • Don’t try to include information about all of your organization’s programs, products, services and events. Just focus on the one key element you’re promoting, such as a major annual fundraiser or the launch of a new program.
  • Include only basic background information about your non-profit, perhaps in a one-page fact sheet. This is not the place to include your organization’s history.
  • Offer the names, phone numbers and brief biographies of key contacts the media might want to interview. Position these contacts as your in-house experts on the program, product, service or event you’re promoting.
